About: Kayla Joseph Jones

Kayla Joseph Jones  currently serves as a distinguished school administrator for the Evangeline Parish School District. She has a noteworthy educational background, having obtained an Associate Degree in General Studies and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, with a minor in Social Sciences, from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Additionally, she has ten years of experience as a litigation paralegal for some of Acadiana's most esteemed attorneys and leading political campaigns.

In 2014, she accepted a teaching position at a local high school to teach Law Studies and Civics, which marked the start of her career in public school education. She earned her teaching credentials from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and completed her alternative certification in educational leadership with Advance Innovative Education. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with an instructional specialist concentration.

Kayla has excelled in various content areas, particularly in secondary social studies and ELA, making her a pioneer in the field of education. In 2021, she served on the LDOE steering committee and elementary content workgroup responsible for revising the Louisiana student standards for social studies. Moreover, she has contributed to the field of education through her publication, "Unwind, Recharge, Transform, and Amplify," in the Louisiana First Foundation Educators Monthly Blog. Additionally, she led a professional development event for Louisiana educators called "Building Literacy in Your Social Studies Classroom" at the 2022 LDOE Teacher Leader Summit.

Kayla's professional accomplishments and accolades speak volumes about her contributions to the field of education. She has been named Northwest High School Teacher of the Year for 2018-19, Chataignier Elementary Middle School Teacher for 2020-21, Evangeline Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year for 2020-21, and a 2022 Louisiana Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist.
